Joshua B. Rales, Founder and Managing Partner, RFI Associates

Josh is the founder and managing partner of RFI Associates, a real estate investment company that specializes in buying and renovating apartment communities. He is also the founder of the RFI Foundation, which supports Jewish causes and devotes resources to education, health care, and social services for the underprivileged.

In partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools, Josh founded the Ruth Rales Comcast Kids Reading Network, a tutorial program serving more than a thousand at-risk second-graders per year. He has served on the boards of the Norwood School, Washington Hospital Center, the United Jewish Endowment Fund, Howard University, the Urban Institute, and the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Through his foundation, he has underwritten an immunology fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, college scholarships for the Ron Brown Scholars Program, and supported the endowment of a History and Public Policy Professorship at Duke University’s Sanford School of Public Policy.

In 2014, Josh became the President of the Norman and Ruth Rales Foundation, a private family foundation that focuses its support on Jewish causes, the health and education of children and families facing challenging circumstances, and assisting the developmentally disabled.

Josh earned his BA in government and foreign affairs with distinction from the University of Virginia in 1979 and his JD from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1983. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bar associations.
