As a mom, I wanted my son to have a school that saw him, believed in him. Even when I didn\u2019t always understand the language, I knew the teachers and staff were there to help him \u2014 and to help me.<\/p>\n
I remember so many people at Rocketship who were there for us. His teachers pushing him to reach his goals. Every little thing mattered. \u201cNunca dej\u00e9 de creer en mi hijo, ni por un momento.\u201d I never stopped believing in my son, not for one moment. Even when things were difficult, I knew Max could do great things.<\/p>\n
Last month, I watched my son graduate from Columbia University. I saw him in his cap and gown, and in my heart I could see that little boy who once asked, \u201cDid I pass?\u201d He did more than pass. He showed us all what is possible. \u201cLo hicimos juntos.\u201d We did it together. Rocketship was our family too. They gave us hope when we needed it most. To all the teachers and staff here today:<\/p>\n
Thank you for believing in kids like Max. Thank you for believing in families like mine. Every call home, every moment you stay late, every time you show love \u2014 it matters. Max is my son, but he is also your student. Because of you, so many children will have the chance to make their dreams come true. Gracias de todo coraz\u00f3n. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.<\/p>\n
