\u00a1El Mes de la Herencia Hispana se inici\u00f3 oficialmente el 15 de Septiembre, y nuestros \u201cRocketeers\u201d han estado celebrando! Aqu\u00ed en Rocketship rendimos tributo a la diversidad cultural durante todo el a\u00f1o, pero este mes nuestros estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de vestirse, divertirse, y reconocer algo de la gran historia, cultura, y tradici\u00f3n de la diversa cultural hispana.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Calpulli Tonalehqueh<\/span><\/a>, un grupo de danza y cultura Azteca, bail\u00f3 en la escuela de Rocketship Mosaic Elementary el D\u00eda\u00a0<\/span>de la Independencia de M\u00e9xico para honrar la cultura ind\u00edgena. Mitlalpilli<\/span>, padre de un \u2018Rocketeer\u2019 ya graduado y l\u00edder\u00a0del grupo Calpulli Tonalehqueh, encomend\u00f3 a Rocketship por llevar el arte y la cultura a sus escuelas.\u00a0<\/span>\u201cEventos as\u00ed fomentan creatividad, tolerancia y conciencia en nuestros hij@s. Nada se crece sin ra\u00edces. Es importante que nuestros hij@s aprendan sobre la historia de sus antepasados. Hay que saber el pasado para aprender d\u00f3nde estamos en el presente y hacia d\u00f3nde vamos en el futuro.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Muchos padres, independientemente\u00a0<\/b>de su identidad cultural, se sintieron inspirados por estas celebraciones. \u201cEs algo divertido para los ni\u00f1os, y es bueno aprender sobre otra cultura. Adem\u00e1s, es una oportunidad para conocer a otros padres.\u201d coment\u00f3 Janelle Bush, madre de una ni\u00f1a del segundo grado. \u201cEn nuestra escuela la mayor\u00eda somos latinos.” A\u00f1adi\u00f3 Rocio Torres, madre de una ni\u00f1a del Kinder. “Creo que eventos as\u00ed son muy importantes para que no olvidemos de nuestras\u00a0ra\u00edces. \u00a0Tenemos mucho tiempo viviendo en los Estados Unidos, y es bonito recordar nuestras tradiciones aunque no estamos en nuestros pa\u00edses.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Rocketship Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month <\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

National\u00a0Hispanic Heritage Month officially kicked off September 15th, and Rocketeers across our schools have been celebrating! Here at Rocketship we pay tribute to\u00a0cultural diversity all year long, but this month our students had a special opportunity\u00a0to dress up, have fun, and recognize some of the rich history and tradition found in the\u00a0diverse\u00a0Hispanic culture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Calpulli Tonalehqueh<\/a>, an Aztec dance and cultural diffusion group, performed at Rocketship Mosaic Elementary\u00a0in honor of indigenous culture on Mexican Independence Day. Mitlalpilli, a parent of Rocketship graduates and Calpulli Tonalehqueh\u00a0group leader, commended Rocketship for bringing art and culture into their schools. \u201cEvents like this\u00a0inspire creativity, tolerance and awareness in our children. Nothing grows without roots. It is important for our children to understand the history of their ancestors. We have to know\u00a0the past in order to understand where we are in the present\u00a0and where we are\u00a0going\u00a0in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Many Rocketship parents, regardless of their\u00a0different cultural identities, felt inspired by events like the one at Mosaic. \u201cIt\u2019s something fun for the kids, and it\u2019s great to learn about a different culture. It is also a bonding experience for us parents,\u201d said Janelle Bush, parent of a Rocketship second\u00a0grade student. \u201cAt our school the majority of us are Latinos,” added\u00a0Rocio Torres, mother of a Rocketship kindergartener. \u201cI\u00a0think events like this are important so that we don’t forget our roots. Many of us parents have\u00a0lived in the United States now for many years, and it is a beautiful thing \u00a0to remember some of our traditions even though we aren’t in our countries.\u201d<\/p>\n
