Ambos simbolizan a las personas que componen nuestra comunidad y que aspiran a trabajar juntas con el principio fundamental en mente de que cada uno de los Rocketeers que cruzan nuestras puertas tenga la experiencia educativa que se merece. Thomas trabaj\u00f3 como maestra y directora en la escuela primaria LaSalle Backus en el Distrito 5, no lejos del nuevo campus de Rocketship. En ese momento estaba ocurriendo la integraci\u00f3n racial y las condiciones sociales impactaron profundamente la educaci\u00f3n, especialmente para los estudiantes de color. La Sra. Thomas recibi\u00f3 posteriormente el Premio Nacional al Director Distinguido (National Distinguished Principal Award) de manos del Secretario de Educaci\u00f3n de los Estados Unidos mientras dirig\u00eda la Escuela Primaria John Henry Ketcham. Tambi\u00e9n ha desempe\u00f1ado un papel de liderazgo en organizaciones c\u00edvicas locales, abogando por el Distrito 5, los ni\u00f1os, las personas mayores y las personas con discapacidades. A trav\u00e9s de su compromiso con el servicio comunitario, la Sra.
