Rocketship Texas is Now Part of Ignite Community Schools

Over five years ago, local leaders in Fort Worth identified Rocketship Public Schools as being uniquely suited to help elevate the entire ecosystem of public education in Tarrant County. Drawn to Rocketship’s elementary-only school model, proven track record of achievement, and focus on authentic parent engagement, a diverse coalition of public education champions in Fort Worth was compelled by the power and the promise of Rocketship Public Schools.

Since its launch in 2020, Rocketship Public Schools has been proud to support Rocketship Texas. However, unlike other Rocketship regions, Rocketship Texas operates as a wholly independent entity from the national network. This governance structure, combined with Texas-specific regulations, has significantly limited the level of support that the Rocketship Public Schools national network can provide.

After careful consideration, Rocketship Texas and the Rocketship Public Schools national network mutually agreed that Rocketship Texas will be better served by a new charter management organization with established operations in Texas. Rocketship Texas is still a start-up school system and a charter management organization with established operations in Texas will be better positioned to support its schools and students.

At the end of the 2024-25 school year, Rocketship Texas joined the Ignite Community Schools network. Ignite Community Schools is a nonprofit charter network focused on preparing students in underserved communities for college success. Ignite is a proud member of Responsive Education Solutions, a charter network that runs more than 100 schools across Texas and Arkansas.

All Rocketship Texas staff and enrolled families were first notified of this transition in January 2025.

Although Rocketship will no longer have a direct presence in Texas, the impact of our work in Fort Worth—especially in the Stop Six community—will endure. We are immensely proud of the parent-led movement for educational equity and excellence that Rocketship helped inspire. The parents of Rocketship Texas have become vocal, passionate advocates for their children’s education, and their determination will continue to drive improvements in the quality of public education in Fort Worth.
