Dr. Carla Caviness is excited to serve as the Founding Principal of Rocketship Public Schools’ new school in Rutherford County, opening for Kindergarten through 3rd grade in the 2027–28 school year.

An experienced educator and school leader, Dr. Caviness has dedicated her career to creating joyful, academically strong schools where every child is known, challenged, and supported. She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management from Trevecca Nazarene University and a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Dr. Caviness spent nearly a decade working internationally, leading diverse school communities and gaining extensive experience in school leadership. Most recently, she served as a founding principal, where she helped build a school community from the ground up—developing teachers, establishing a strong school culture, partnering with families, and improving student achievement.

Now a Rutherford County resident, Dr. Caviness is excited to bring her experience to the community she calls home. As both a mother and educator, she believes deeply in the power of families and schools working together. She looks forward to building a joyful school community where families have a meaningful voice and every Rocketeer is encouraged to dream big and reach their full potential.
