One Student’s Journey to Unlocking His Limitless Potential

When I first met Rozay, school was something he wanted nothing to do with. He struggled to connect with others and often expressed frustration through anger. This sometimes looked like throwing furniture or storming out of class. But underneath all of that was a child who just needed someone to see him and believe in him.

Over time, we built that trust. Through small wins, consistency, and a lot of tough love, Rozay started to see all that he was capable of. One of the biggest turning points for him was literacy. As his reading and writing skills grew, so did his confidence. It gave him a new way to express himself, process emotions, and make sense of the world. The stronger his literacy became, the more he began to believe that he could learn anything, and that belief completely changed his trajectory.

Now, Rozay attends Dr. Howard Fuller Collegiate Academy, but he still comes back to Rocketship Transformation Prep on his own, volunteering during his off days to help with students and support staff. Nobody asks him to; he just shows up because he wants to give back to the place that helped him find his footing.

He’s gone from being a student who once resisted school to a young man who chooses to be part of it; not just for himself, but for others. His growth is reflected not only in his testing data, but in the way he leads, listens, and serves. Rozay is living proof of what can happen when we give kids the tools, trust, and time to unlock their limitless potential.
