Brittany Kinser, Executive Director, Wisconsin
Brittany Kinser has spent her entire professional life as a teacher and educational leader. After earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Eastern Illinois University in 1999, she taught for two years in Chicago, at Senn High School, one of the most culturally and linguistically diverse schools in the United States.
After spending a year teaching English in Japan and studying Spanish in Costa Rica, Brittany returned to Chicago to teach in the public schools and mentor other teachers, while obtaining a Master’s Degree in Designing Science Curriculum from Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT). Recruited by IIT to help open Perspectives IIT Math and Science Academy, the university’s charter school, she became the founding Science and Special Education Instructional Leader. Brittany was accepted into Columbia University’s Summer Principals Academy in 2010, receiving an Educational Leadership Master’s Degree in 2011.
In early 2012, Brittany began working for Rocketship in California as an Assistant Principal. In the spring of 2013, Brittany moved to Milwaukee to serve as the founding principal at Rocketship Southside Community Prep, the first Rocketship school in Wisconsin.
Before transitioning to her present position as Executive Director of Rocketship Wisconsin, Brittany was a supervisor and mentor to Rocketship principals in Milwaukee and Nashville. She is currently working on community outreach in the Milwaukee area to identify neighborhoods that could benefit from Rocketship’s proven educational success.
