In June 2018, Jacque Patterson returned to the KIPP DC team and family as the new Chief Community Engagement & Growth Officer. As one of KIPP DC’s earliest board members and parents, and a steadfast community advocate for District residents for nearly 25 years, Jacque has been a long-time advisor to our leadership team and an important part of KIPP DC’s history. Prior to June, Jacque served as the regional director of Rocketship Education in DC. He moved to Washington in 1995 while serving his country in the United States Air Force. Jacque immediately became involved in the communities of Ward 8 where he decided to reside. In 2000, he was elected as an ANC Commissioner representing Single Member District 8B07, serving for 4 terms until 2008. During this time he was also selected as a Capital City Fellow by former DC Mayor Anthony A. Williams, eventually becoming his Community Affairs Coordinator. Before joining Rocketship Education, Jacque was a Managing Director at the Federal City Council and Director of Management & Administration at Martha’s Table. He has also has been appointed to a number of government and non-profit boards to include DC Advisory Board for Veteran Affairs, Advisory Board for Democrats for Education Reform-DC, Board of Trustees for KIPP DC and Higher Achievement Program. Jacque is also a member of the 2006 Class of Leadership Greater Washington. Jacque earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Southern Illinois University and a Masters degree in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. He is a member of the 2017 Class of public and charter school leaders at the Georgetown University Executive Leadership Masters program.
