Cheree Davis, Principal, Rocketship Legacy Prep

Cheree R. Davis is a mission-driven principal with over 20 years of experience leading instructional excellence, developing educators, and driving transformational outcomes for students in urban school communities. She is deeply committed to ensuring that every child has access to a rigorous, joyful, and equitable education that prepares them for lifelong success.

As Principal of Rocketship Legacy Prep, Ms. Davis brings a proven track record of accelerating student achievement through data-driven instruction, strong coaching systems, and a relentless focus on high-quality Tier 1 teaching. In her most recent leadership role, she led significant academic gains, increasing student proficiency by more than 10 percentage points within one year, while also reducing chronic absenteeism, which demonstrates her commitment to both academic success and student engagement.

Throughout her career, Ms. Davis has served in multiple leadership roles across Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and Washington, DC, including Elementary and Middle School Assistant Principal and IEP Chair. She has deep expertise in building systems that support all learners, including students with IEPs and multilingual learners, and is known for creating strong, inclusive school cultures grounded in accountability and care.

Ms. Davis has also contributed to national education efforts through her work with Johns Hopkins University, where she served as an Adjunct Professor, School Transformation Facilitator, and Curriculum Developer. In these roles, she supported school leaders across the country in strengthening instruction, aligning systems, and improving student outcomes in urban communities.

A firm believer that “Excellence is a habit,” Ms. Davis leads with urgency, consistency, and purpose, ensuring that high expectations translate into daily actions and measurable results for students. She is passionate about partnering with families and the community to build a school environment where every child is known, challenged, and empowered to succeed.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling and serving in her church.
