Rocketship Wisconsin Builds Momentum With Strong 2024–25 State Assessment Results
Rocketship Wisconsin students delivered impressive results on the 2024–25 Wisconsin Forward Tests, leading to strong State Report Card ratings. Rocketship Southside Community Prep and Rocketship Stellar Academy earned a designation of Exceeds Expectations, showcasing exceptional achievement, while Rocketship Transformation Prep earned a Meets Expectations designation, reflecting meaningful progress and a foundation for continued growth. Together, these results reinforce Rocketship Wisconsin’s focus on unleashing the potential of every student through excellent instruction, joyful learning, and deep community partnership.
Data Behind the Designations Shows Even Deeper Strength
The data behind these designations is even more impressive. Across the region, Rocketship schools met or outperformed the local Milwaukee Public Schools average in Math and ELA for all major student subgroups, including students who are economically disadvantaged, multilingual learners, students with disabilities, and Black and Hispanic students. In fact, Rocketship Wisconsin ranked in the 94th percentile in Math and the 78th percentile in ELA among Wisconsin schools serving 80% or more economically disadvantaged students.
Locally, these gains are reflected in each school’s results. At Southside Community Prep, Math proficiency increased seven points, placing the school second in both Math and ELA among comparable public and charter schools in its area. Transformation Prep made remarkable strides this year, with Math proficiency rising 16 points—doubling last year’s rate—and ELA proficiency increasing eight points. These results place the school first in Math and second in ELA among nearby schools. And while Rocketship Stellar Academy is currently in its second year of operation – and therefore does not have growth data – the initial results show a strong foundation for future success.
Leadership Perspective: A Community Effort Driving Student Success
Dr. Kadeem Ruiz, Executive Director of Rocketship Wisconsin, attributes the impressive gains across the region to the focused dedication and collaboration of staff and leaders at all three campuses. “High staff retention has ensured consistent instruction, and our principals and teachers have worked thoughtfully with planning, coaching, and targeted interventions to support student growth,” Dr. Ruiz said.
Dr. Ruiz also commends the intentional partnerships with families as a key to success.
“Families engage through home visits, communication routines, and shared expectations. These relationships have been central to achieving these outcomes,” he added.
Building on Momentum in 2025–26
With the 2024–25 results now in hand, Rocketship Wisconsin is building on this progress by analyzing the data to understand what drove these gains, celebrating milestones to highlight the impact of students’ and staff efforts, and setting clear goals that align resources and supports with each campus’s needs.
“We’ve seen what’s possible when staff, students, and families work together with focus and purpose,” Dr. Ruiz said. “These results reflect the dedication and collaboration at every level, and they set the stage for continued growth and achievement across our schools.”
