Rocketship California Feeds Families in Need for the Holidays

Rocketship Public Schools California hosted a holiday food distribution in December before the holiday break to feed hundreds of families from its 10 San Jose schools that are facing food insecurity. These distributions typically run bimonthly all school year long, but Rocketship added this additional distribution so families have enough food over the holiday break.

As a part of Rocketship’s community schools model, this effort is led by Rocketship’s Care Corps program, which connects families facing food and housing insecurity and other hardships with social services that they need to thrive. Every Rocketship campus has a Care Corps coordinator that works with at-risk families directly, reducing the barriers between families and essential services.

ABC 7 News Bay Area covered the food distribution effort as a part of their holiday season coverage.
