Avis Leverett, Ph.D., Coordinator of Strategic Initiatives at University School of Milwaukee

Avis is the Coordinator of Strategic Initiatives at University School of Milwaukee. In this role, she leads the school through the accreditation and strategic planning processes. Prior to this, Avis served the USM community as their first Director of Auxiliary Services, providing financial and operational oversight and leadership to all auxiliary programs on campus.

As an educator, Avis has been a teacher and leader in both public and independent schools in a career that has spanned more than two decades. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences from Rutgers University, Masters in Educational Leadership from The College of New Jersey and doctorate from Temple University.

Although a recent transplant to Wisconsin, Avis has quickly become involved in her community and is a dedicated advocate for children in Milwaukee, her new home. Avis also serves on the Board of Directors for the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum and is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and Jack and Jill of America.

Avis and her husband, Neuman, have three children, Graham, Ellis, and Davis.
