Originally from San Diego, California, Chaka graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a bachelors degree in Political Science and began her career in education as a pre-kindergarten teacher in 2007.

After teaching early childhood education for a number of years, and then working as a teacher coach, Chaka joined Rocketship Discovery Prep in 2015 as a kindergarten teacher. She then served as Assistant Principal position and rose to Principal of Discovery Prep in the 2017-18 school year. Chaka is humbled by the opportunity to lead such a powerful team and community and commits to providing a quality education to all Rocketeers who attend Rocketship Discovery Prep.
