Watch: Launching DC Documentary

In the last two decades, Washington, DC has made great strides to improve its public schools. Access to high quality seats has grown immensely and achievement is on the rise. But still, less than half of students in our nation’s capital are on grade level. Our DC kids and families deserve better.

Academic performance in Southeast DC remains the lowest in the District, with less than one in four fourth graders reading on grade level. Daily, more than 3,200 students travel out of Ward 8 to neighboring wards to access quality education. Because we believe every child deserves access to a great school in their community, Rocketship has partnered with the Anacostia community to open our first DC school.

In the fall of 2016, Rocketship, in partnership with Apple Tree Public Charter School, will welcome its founding class of DC Rocketeers into a brand-new, state-of-the-art school in Ward 8.

With Rocketeers in Northern California, Milwaukee, WI and Nashville, TN thriving, we are thrilled to launch our newest region. Rocketship’s unique model, which combines excellent teachers and leaders with blended, personalized learning and engaged parents, will prepare our DC Rocketeers for middle school, high school, college and beyond.
